Michael Palin, CBE

on

"Around the World in 20 Years"

Friday, 28 May 2010

The Hong Kong Football Club, Causeway Bay

6.30pm Drinks Reception

7.30 pm Lecture and Banquet Dinner

The event, to be held at the Football Club, is going to be a banquet dinner with the highlight being an illustrated lecture by Michael Palin, "Around the World in 20 Years".  The dinner has been arranged so that no less than half of the ticket price for the dinner goes to charity.

The aim of the dinner is to make a substantial contribution from Hong Kong to the Royal Geographical Society's President's Appeal, which is the culmination of a 10-year programme entitled "Unlocking the Archives", the aim of which is to make the RGS's 10 million maps, priceless artifacts and unequalled library accessible to the whole world, in addition to just Fellows and Members.

Michael Palin was elected President of the Royal Geographical Society in 2009, following an illustrious career which took him from a successful student at Oxford to long-running Monty Python fame, to A Fish Called Wanda, to the world's best loved maker of travel documentaries.

We very much hope that you would like to attend The President’s Dinner.  Tickets for non-members of the Royal Geographical Society are priced at HK$1,250 ticket for the evening, which includes the banquet dinner with wine and soft drinks, of which no less than half goes to charity, which additionally includes a year’s membership of the Royal Geographical Society – HK.

This event is expected to be very popular, therefore please note that you are advised to reply as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
